TMZ reports that Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has committed suicide at his home in Los Angeles County. His body was found before 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He was 41 years old and leaves behind six children from two wives.
Bandmate Mike Shinoda tweeted, “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”
“I am in tears. Chester just told me how happy he was…He was such a sweet and talented man…I feel so sad for his family, band mates and fans,” tweeted Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx.
“The news about Chester Bennington is devastating. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and Linkin Park. Such a tragic loss,” said Ryan Seacrest in a tweet.
Linkin Park was scheduled to play Citifield in Flushing, NY next Friday, July 28 with Blink-182 and Wu Tang Clan. There is no word yet as to whether Blink-182 and Wu Tang will perform an amazing rock show in Bennington’s honor.
