Velvet Revolver is back, finally. Vocalist Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots) said that he has rejoined Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, and Dave Kushner in an interview with ABC. Here is what Weiland said of the reunion: “We’re able to put egos and differences and old…conflicts aside and so that’s really cool.”
Those guys need an awesome frontman and Weiland is the only guy for the job. This is a win-win for these guys because quite frankly, Weiland’s STP reunion was disappointing. After seeing STP live three times since leaving VR, the magic was not there. And the best lead singer to front Slash (although Myles Kennedy is great) and Duff since Axl Rose (Guns n’ Roses) is Weiland.
VR released their debut album Contraband in 2004, Libertad in 2007, and are already writing a new album (assuming a 2013 release is likely). Weiland said that Velvet Revolver will tour in 2012 after Slash wraps up his Apocalyptic Love business. Check back here for Velvet Revolver tour dates when they are announced.
