One of the best venues to see a rock concert in New York City is the Nokia Theatre in Times Square. This relatively new concert hall has an old school rock vibe with the added luxury of cleanliness. Great rock shows that fans have experienced, since 2005, include Social Distortion, Rob Zombie, Velvet Revolver, Alice In Chains, Black Label Society, Danzig, and Ted Nugent. In the past, fans were notified of a cool rock band that was to perform at the Nokia Theatre each week through email.
However, the times spoken of above, date back to over one and a half years ago. Today, one rarely hears of a really cool upcoming rock show. No offense to Aimee Mann, Disco Biscuits, Saw Doctors, Yonder Mountain String Band, Rusted Root, Methodman and Redman, Phil Lesh, and Hanson, who all have upcoming performances, but there is a serious lack of rock and roll excess here. Sure, it is nice to have talented musicians play a concert at a venue, but there needs to be a balance; an equilibrium that can only be set with just as many rock shows.
The art of the great rock show is still alive. Nokia Theatre needs to book the rock once again and must make it a priority. Please, stop depriving the great city and give us the proper rock shows that we deserve.
i agree. the velvet revolver show there was one of the, if not the best show i ever saw. that place was made for rock n’ roll
