Classic Irish rockers Thin Lizzy unearthed this powerful live set from 1977 on Still Dangerous. The band blazes through classic cuts “Jailbreak,” “Cowboy Song,” and “The Boys Are Back In Town,” guitar dueling glory included. Recorded at Philadelphia’s Tower Theatre the band seemed careful not to include fancy studio overdubs as heard on many live albums from this era—by preserving the original sound on this release Thin Lizzy seems to have acknowledged the past mistakes of 1978’s Live and Dangerous. The only disappointment of Still Dangerous is its short length—10 songs leaves the listener foaming like a hungry rabid pit bull. Additionally, it is unfortunate that “Whiskey in the Jar” wasn’t part of this show. Other than the length, this set contains a genuine rock and roll vibe that should not be passed over. B+
